BRIEF of HISTORY
Over the years, PT Bernofarm has steadily grown into a widely recognized name in the pharmaceutical business. It is not only on the various kinds of innovative medicine products that have been launched, but also on the product quality consistency and progress in term of human resources.
The name of PT Bernofarm was originally taken from one of the pharmaceutical industrious cities in the Swiss, called BERN. The founder has been inspired for the name and took the logo of B and F. This company began as a simple home industry equipped with one tablet machine. Through his persistent commitment and smart working, finally he could set up a company began as CV Sumber Farma in Surabaya, which established on March 11th, 1971. As a result of a lot of smart works and devotions, the team of PT Bernofarm has been steadily expanding from its only 20 employees at start, to the current situation, which employed over 1200 people.
The manufacturing site was moved to Jalan Buduran Sidoarjo in 1976, and in 1991 the site gained GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) Certificate from Indonesian Health Department.
Our key success lies in consistent commitment to produce good quality pharmaceutical products in various lines of medicine and our capability to work as a strong team. We rely on highly qualified, motivated and loyal human resources that are always ahead in anticipating the growth of pharmaceutical industry. Since 1971 when PT Bernofarm was first established, our organization has been devoted in a single minded fashion to live up to one goal: excellent quality products to reach the health care market of Indonesian community.
Our educated and highly motivated manpower in production, marketing and non-marketing departments is the key to our ability to deliver series of success, such as delivery of high quality products and services to health care market. The domination of company workforce by dynamic, scientific and loyal people enables PT Bernofarm to be competitive in the fast growing pharmaceutical business.
To prepare ourselves for the increasingly fierce competition in the pharmaceutical business, we have taken continuously several progresses in the product- and business-developments, also maintained and developed every layer of our human resources through internal and external training programs as well as applying the advantages of technology.
In accordance with the motto " Develop to serve ", PT Bernofarm endeavors to ensure that all our business practices, our products and services add significant value to our national health care development. Believing that each distribution company has its own strength in the range of products and distribution area, and in order to achieve good network for distributing our products, management rely on very limited national distributors. Evaluation and choosing of the appropriate distributor is based on the needs to reach every potential market.

The manufacturing site lies on a land of about 20,000 meter square, at Jalan Jend Gatot Subroto no 68, Banjarkemantren KM 18, Buduran, Sidoarjo 61252, East Java. It consists of three buildings, one for betalactam line (sterile and non sterile), one for cephalosphorine line (sterile and non sterile), and one for non betalactam/ non cephalosporine line (sterile and non sterile). The manufacturing annual capacity is as follows :

Therefore besides producing our own branded and generic products, we receive manufacture third party?s products (toll manufacturing).
QC and RD
PT. Bernofarm believes that good marketing team will not succed without guaranteed good quality of each single product delivered to the market. The quality begins with the incoming materials, through well validated processes to the finished goods. We are applying an integrated quality system, which is not limited only to the testing, but also includes such as non-conformance investigation to prevent the repetition, validating the manufacturing process, cleaning process, and test method, as well as implementing preventive maintenance program.
We have also enviroment monitoring program. We build the quality into the process by giving an adequate training to the employee, providing them with logical and up-to-date SOP?s and applying sound statistical method.
All products are released in accordance with established specifications, which based on know pharmacopeae such as USP, BP, DAB, and PI.
Research & Development
PT Bernofarm has a strong R&D team dealing with formulation, production process development, analytical test method development.
PT Bernofarm believes that in order to succeed in fierce competitive pharmaceutical business the team should concentrate to "how on create demand".
The organization has developed such as spider web; the structure is continuously reorganized and developed. Beginning with a small marketing team covering only the market around Surabaya and East Java, they were expanding to serve Jakarta and other important cities in Java in 1986. Currently, PT Bernofarm serves almost all area in Indonesia.
In order to get focused for these various lines of products, the marketing team is divided into several departments. Each department has its own strategy to market its product such as ethical department, which is the first set up department followed by, OTC (Over the Counter), Consumers department, and Veterinary department.
