Much of our early production technology and pre-mixed fluxes were imported. In 1978 we started our own research and development program that enable us to design electrodes incorporating our own flux formulations.
Nikko Steel operated as a sole proprietorship until 1994, when under a corporate re-structuring program, it was merged with PT Alam Lestari Unggul, a limited liability company established by Mr. Bakti Setia Darma in 1983. Nikko Steel is maintained as the brand name for the range of welding electrodes produced by PT Alam Lestari Unggul.
PT Alam Lestari Unggul was certified ISO 9001 Quality Management System by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance in 1996 and holds membership in several international welding institutes, societies and associations; demonstrating our commitment to quality and the advancement of welding technology.

To meet the demand for wider knowledge in practical welding, we have establishes a welding training facility, which provides specialized and 'tailor-made' training courses for our customers' engineers and technicians.
An important feature of this training facility is a course devoted to maintenance and repair welding that includes wear resistant applications covering all major industries.
In addition, our company can also provide customised training at clients' premises under special arrangement.
We have long placed a high priority on product quality and operate a policy of continuous quality improvement across our entire operation. As well as our ISO 9001 Quality Management System certified by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance, who are accredited by the National Accreditation Council of Certification Bodies (NACCB), we hold accredited approvals by the Registrar Accreditation Board (RAB) and the Japan Accreditation Board (JAB).
To give further assurance of our product quality to customers, we also hold product approvals from the following product certification bodies: Lloyd's Register of Shipping (LRS), American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), Det Norske Veritas (DNV), Bureau Veritas (BV), Germanischer Lloyd (GL) and Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (BKI).

Producing our electrodes involves a multi-step process including flux dry mixing, wire drawing and cutting, coating, baking and packing operations.
At each stage of the process we take great care to ensure that our electrodes meet the industry's exacting specification.
Nikko Steel electrodes are subjected to quality control checks including concentricity, weldability, mechanical properties and spectographic analysis using a state-of-the-art optical emission spectrometer.
The Future for Nikko Steel
The future direction for PT Alam Lestari Unggul will take the best of our past experience to build an even wider domestic market and develop an export market network.
It is our intention to expand our product range of flux cored wires, submerged arc welding wires and bare and flux coated TIG filler wires, metal spray powders, welding machines and associated equipment.
We will continue to develop our maintenance and repair welding expertise together with our range of wear-resistant products and application services including hard-surfacing, metal powder spraying, ceramic coating and epoxy bonding.
We are commited to the development of new products and services, which will complement our existing range. In this way, we will be able to continuously improve the services to our customers who shall always remain in top priority.
